This commission was to convert a number of derelict buildings in Seaford, East Sussex into new townhouses. The existing mews buildings consisted of two disused stables buildings, which had featured small residential units above. In addition the site included a building listed to grade II status. None of the buildings were in a habitable state, and required extensive structural stabilising and renovation.
In this case, it was necessary to work closely with the local authority design and conservation officer, together with English Heritage to negotiate the best treatment of the buildings.
The scheme includes an additional townhouse, which is located in a vacant spot on the site.
The scheme is due for completion in spring 2007.
