Felce and Guy were asked to form a larger staff room and new entrance to this village school. The existing building is listed and it sits adjacent to the village church. We produced a building which complemented the existing building and responded to it by use of similar materials, but used the materials in a modern way and  produced a building which stood out from the original yet did not dominate.

The new building gave a feeling of light and space to a small area and opened up the entrance of the school to the playground area, allowing better visual contact with the children and to give the staff a view out over the South Downs which they previously did not have.
